Kristin Patterson received a call from Dorothy Pilkington to inform us that Rick Richardson had passed away on April 26, 2015, while in hospice care. He was 88 years old.   Rick and Dorothy lived in Hayward but moved to Yreka, CA over 10 years ago where they built a home in the mountains. Rick passed away at Coeur d’Alene, ID at the Lodge, a long-term care facility.

Rick joined the Sequoia Stamp Club in 1992 and was SSC life  member #526. In 1996, he served as SSC President. A highlight  during his term of office was when he recited from memory a poem about Snowshoe  Thompson, the legendary postman of the Sierras. Rick was a long time U.N. stamp representative at west coast stamp shows and had a table at PENPEX for decades.

During WWII, Rick served as a Private on the Light Dayton Cruiser in the Pacific and saw the skies light up when Hiroshima was bombed. He will be buried at  Veterans Cemetery, Medical Lake, WA.
