The December 6-7, 1986 was chaired by Henry “Hank” A. Washauer with the help of Treasurer Landry G. Doster. The sponsors were the Peninsula and Sequoia Stamp Clubs along with the Redwood City Recreation Department.
Special show cachet could be purchased for $1.50 with single stamp, $2.25 with a block of four, and $3.95 for four cacheted covers each with a different stamp. West Coast explorer, Sir Francis Drake and his ship the Golden Hind were featured on the show cachet. The covers were franked with a single or block of four of the 22¢ Polar Explorers issue. The cancellation was tied to the cachet with a drawing of Drake’s shop, the Golden Hind, under full sail.
A complete History of PENPEX exhibit will be on display at PENPEX 2011 on December 3 and 4 at the Community Activity Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City. The stamp show is free and open to the public.
